Averaging 12-15 cm long, the Byadagi chilli is a long, thin variety. It’s the second most lucrative chilli variety in India, with its oleoresin (oil extract) being used in nail polish and lipstick. It’s bright red in colour, low in heat, and features characteristic wrinkles. Particularly used in south Indian dishes, it comes in a less spicy small and plump dabbi breed, as well as a hotter, gnarled kaddi breed.
