Known more commonly as the infamous “ghost pepper”, the Bhut Jolokia is a hybrid chilli pepper cultivated in northeast India.
For a time the hottest chilli pepper in the world – being 170 times spicier than Tabasco sauce – the ghost pepper is small-fruited and part of the Solanaceae family.
